About Greener Grass Publishing
Greener Grass Publishing is located on the western slope of Colorado, in the small town of Rifle, pictured above. It is a small and simple business run by Andy Wellman and Jillian Madone. Andy is an avid climber and skier who started Greener Grass Publishing in 2009 after a few years spent working for other western slope publishers. Jillian, a climber and former raft guide, teaches Kindergarten at a nearby elementary school. Most of their brainstorming sessions take place in between pitches at the nearby Rifle Mountain Park, home to some of the best sport climbing in the US.
Although based in Colorado, Greener Grass Publishing traces its roots to the fantastic sandstone climbing of the Southeastern US. In 2009, seeking new opportunities and a change of pace, Andy and Jillian moved Greener Grass Publishing to Chattanooga, Tennessee. There they met, climbed, and worked with many fantastic people in more incredible climbing locations than could possibly be described here. Together with author Adam Henry, Greener Grass Publishing produced its first book, a guidebook to the bouldering of Horse Pens 40, Alabama, which was released in March of 2010. Inspired by that book’s success, they decided to explore the possibility of producing more guidebooks to the extremely under-documented climbing in the Southeast, with a variety of projects in the works for the future.
